The Ecosystem at Sanctuary
Sanctuary has been carefully placed into a fragile and beautiful ecosystem. It serves as a private oasis from residential development, and effectively complements 12,400 surrounding acres of dedicated open space.
The course is known for its towering pines and 180-degree mountain views encompassing Pikes Peak to the south and Longs Peak to the north. Because of the dramatic terrain, foursomes often feel the entire course is theirs, even when play is at capacity.
Sanctuary wildlife includes black bears, bobcats, coyotes, deer, elk, foxes, golden eagles, mountain lions and wild turkeys. No effort is made to keep wildlife from impacting greens and fairways, and diligent maintenance minimizes damage.
To preserve the course's exclusivity, balance with nature and core beauty, Sanctuary allows only 9,000 rounds of golf to be played annually. Most of the play is donated to charity fund-raising tournaments.
